PORT CITY PRODUCTION is made up of a team of staff and volunteers tasked with serving Port City Community Church and its various ministries through the world of live production.

We hold our CULTURE GUIDE (made up of our department values and team expectations) close, using it as the lens through which we see the world around us and the guide through which we’ll act. Team culture is of the utmost importance to us - valued equally to performance and results; it’s paramount to our success.

THIS GUIDE

Thank you for reading this and being a part of the best team on the planet. Because you are reading this right now we know that you care about where we are going as a team and how we are going to get there. This document is just that. Where we are going and how we plan to get there. Our team has worked and prayed through every idea and word that is in this guide and every step of the way we have had you in mind. You, our team, are the most important part of our mission. Jesus dedicated His life to people and we want to do the same. We want to provide clarity for the sake of unity. We want to cast a bright and large vision for the future because we all believe in an all powerful and truly good God. We want to be more than church goers, we want to be Jesus followers.

As the production team we have a unique opportunity to carry the hope and love of Jesus to every corner of our culture. We believe that this team has so much potential and a call like no other.

Our heart is for us to step into our calling as a team. That our team would be healthy, that we would serve people like Jesus and that we would grow to be truly strong as a group of people rallied around a vision that is far bigger than any one of us. Thank you for accepting the call and joining arm in arm with us as we strive to be world changing Jesus followers.

Much love, The Production Staff.

OUR TEAM

THE MISSION OF PRODUCTION - Create gatherings that inspire engagement in worship, teaching, and community.

LOVE GOD AND LOVE PEOPLE - The heart of our team as a whole is following the call of “love God and love people”. We desire to be Jesus followers in the way of consistently choosing to love God deeply and love people unconditionally.

TEAM VALUES

JESUS IS CENTRAL

“I have been crucified with Christ. My ego is no longer central. It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God. Christ lives in me. The life you see me living is not ‘mine,’ but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I am not going to go back on that.” - Galatians 2:20 (MSG)

We hold Jesus at the center of everything we do, every gathering we hold and every conversation we participate in. We believe that Jesus changes everything and empowers us to live life to the fullest while carrying his love and hope to every corner of the world. In everything, JESUS IS CENTRAL.

Pursuit Together (1 Timothy 4:11-16)

We believe that our relationship with Jesus is the most important thing about us. It is our highest call and our most important priority. We as a team are dedicated and committed to helping and encouraging one another to focus our hearts’ attention on walking with Jesus every day. We also believe that our ministry flows from our walk and not the other way around.

Servanthood (Philippians 2:5-8)

We serve first. Our commitment is to serve one another just as Jesus did in washing His disciples’ feet. We know that serving isn’t always glamorous, clean, or easy and we still believe that it is our calling. Our desire is to be a team that is dedicated to serving our church, our team and our community.

We > Me (1 Corinthians 12:14)

What we can do together is far greater than what we can do apart. Our desire is to operate as a team. This means that when success is achieved it is our victory, not any one person’s victory. Upholding this value means that we will lift each other up with our words and actions, refrain from gossip, and always choose unity in our communication.

100% (Colossians 3:23-24)

We want our team to be 100% present when they are at home with their family as well as 100% when they are serving. We don’t want to be a distracted people, we want to be a committed people. We believe that 100% of people matter and are loved by God deeply and fully. We also believe that no matter how small or seemingly insignificant a task we are working on might seem, 100% of the details matter.

Trust/Trustworthy (Proverbs 10:9)

We believe that our ability to trust is the foundation of our teams culture. We desire to be honest and forthcoming with information even when it exposes our weakness. Our team strives to trust the leadership of our church as well as the other departments and teams. It is essential that we always refrain from gossip as that is the enemy of trust.

Words Matter (Proverbs 15:4)

Our words carry weight therefore they matter. We believe in affirming and encouraging each other through honest, helpful and consistent communication. Our commitment to each other consists of addressing hard things while using kind and helpful words. Words can shape culture and lift people up and that is our goal!

TEAM EXPECTATIONS

VALUE PEOPLE

Our primary purpose is to create a place for people to belong to, to participate, to serve, to learn, and to invest in others. We aim to speak to one another in a way that adds value to the other person. Please be encouraging, helpful, and open to others’ ideas. Condescending tones and attitudes of entitlement are not characteristics of our desired team culture. Volunteering should have the benefit of community and spiritual growth. Be for the people around you and get to know them on a personal level.

HAVE A DESIRE TO LEARN

Be coachable. Always be willing to ask, “How can I make it better?” With a humble posture, we can all learn from each other. Hold your gifts, skills, and assumptions with open hands and be willing to learn from someone else. Strive for the ideal, but give grace to the real. We will maintain a healthy awareness that in reality, things do not always happen perfectly. Our expectation is not perfection, but for everyone to do their best while aligning with the team’s vision.

BE A TEAM PLAYER

Be willing to support and participate in the life of the team. Approach all decisions and conversations with open minds. Different opinions make our team strong; questions, ideas and suggestions are welcomed and encouraged so long as they are given respectfully. Please put your cell phone and personal distractions away during all meetings, run-throughs and gatherings. Be fully present with the team for the team. Actively look for ways to be helpful and encouraging to others.

BE AN OWNER

Carry the mission, values and culture of our team. Speak life and vision into the people around you. Value the team by being prepared and on time. Use Planning Center to respond to scheduling requests and be familiar with plans before arriving to serve. Maximum preparation allows for maximum flexibility. Own your role. Be proactive in knowing and caring for our gear. Leave your space better than you found it. See a need…fill a need.

Strive to be an attender of Port City Community Church.
